| A There |
When my daughter started asking for a feed, she'd ask for "a there ". It was a while before I realised this was because I'd sit myself down on "our seat" and say "there you are now, sshhh" to comfort her. She's now 3 1/2 and still loves a wee "there" at bedtime. |
| Ang-yang |
Hi there, I wanted to offer my daughter's word for nursing. She is 14 months old and we have used the term "Ang-Yang" for nursing ever since she was a newborn and her "hunger cry" sounded like "AngYangAngYang!" Now when she wants to nurse she uses her baby sign for eating accompanied by "Ang-Yang-Ang-Yang!" |
| B |
My 2 1/2 year old daughter has always referred to it as "B". She sits on my lap, smiles up at me and says "It's B time now, Mummy". |
| Ba-ba |
My daughter calls them "ba-ba", like a lot of kids refer to bottles. My Bradley birth teacher had her kids call it that, to lessen the effect of public requests- and my husband liked that. However, my daughter also declares "Boobs!" once the "ba-bas" are exposed to her sight. LOL |
| Baa baa |
My baby Edek, calls it baa baa! you know, like the sound a baby lamb makes! He is now 2 1/2. |
| Babby |

| Baboo |
My three year old calls it "baboo". |
| Baboo (2) |
Hi, just came across this and thought I would let you know what my wee boy used to say! I breastfed my son until the age of 26 months when he pretty well weaned himself, we were down to every other day or so, and then he just went two weeks without asking, and when he did ask I distracted him, and it never was an issue. I was so pleased not to have to go through the trauma of forcing him to stop before he was ready. So many people I know who stopped at six or twelve months found it really distressing and depressing, and also has almost physical withdrawal symptoms. With Jacob it was very gentle, and seemed natural. Anyhoodle (as I am waffling!!), for a considerable time before we stopped breastfeeding, Jacob called it Baboo. Invented it himself and it stuck! No idea where it came from, but I thought it was really sweet, and also quite amusing. Now though, at almost three (birthday in January) he told me after I had been to my meeting (I am a peer supporter) and had asked me what we were talking about at the meeting, that No Mummy, milk comes in bottles, not in boobs. I quickly got out a load of books and magazines and showed him. Long term though, think it might be about time to start thinking about baby number two, if only to set the record straight! By the way, the person with the Blackadder reference, that really made me laugh (and made my partner look at me like I was bonkers as I am sat there giggling at the computer!!). Hope you all have a lovely winter!! |
| Baboos / Boos |
My son calls them "baboos" and my daughter used to call them "boos"!! |
| Baby Juice |
I have a 2 year old and a 5 week old, I no longer breastfeed my 2 year old but when he watches his brother eat he calls it baby juice. |
| Be-be's |
My first son referred to nursing as Be-Be''s and of course it was passed onto my second son. They nursed till they we're 2 1/2 and 3 respectively. It was a very discreet way of letting me know that they wanted to nurse, "Be-Be''s mommy" is what they would say and no one had a clue as to what they were asking for. Now they are 6 1/2 and almost 4 and whenever they see a baby nursing they let me know that the baby is getting Be-Be's. |
| Beebies |
My second daughter Arwen is almost 26 months and is still breastfeeding. She often asks and looks for "beebies" herself: "beepies, yep? yep, beeeebies!" She often gets on my lap, pulls up my shirt, looks for one side, and then later looks for the other side all by herself: "more beebies?!". Sometimes during the feeding, we ask her: "let's go to the garden!" or "let's watch TV" to which she often shakes her head giving a clear No answer! When asked "how about beebies?" her face would lighten up and she would smile happily. If we stop her, she would cry "mymmy, mine!". Her very own language "beebies" save us from getting embarrassed in public sometimes. |
| Beepy |
Beepy - a combination of booby and sleep (they go together for him). |
| Bees |
Hello Jane, I breastfed my daughter Miffy till she was four ..her word for it was bees ...I had heard horror stories of toddlers shouting I want titty and decided we would have something a bit more discreet. My friends older daughters used the term around non breastfeeding mothers and they just didn't quite get it but that was our intention anyway!!!! |
| Bert / Ernie |
Back in London I supported an American mum who breastfed both her children well into speaker-hood. The mum was a big fan of the programme Sesame Street. Her firstborn referred to each breast by name: Bert and Ernie. |
